Winners of the Kikonyogo Capital Markets Award 2008 for Investor Education
Crested Stocks and Securities was recognized by the CMA for our efforts to educate investors about the stock market in Uganda.
CSS was selected by a panel of independent judges comprising experts in mass communication, finance and capital markets. Previous winners of the Kikonyogo CMA Award include Mr. Gary Watson (2007), Mr. Leo Kibirango, former Board Chairman CMA, Mr. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, Governor Bank of Uganda, Mr. Andrew Owiny Executive Director, MBEA Brokerage Services Ltd and Mr. Michael Opagi Director of the Privatisation Unit.

We believe that a broad base of clients, well-informed and gaining experience in the market is the key to our success as a firm and to the Uganda Securities Exchange in particular.
2008
CDS (Kenya) Educational Campaign
CSS developed and launched an educational campaign to enroll Ugandan investors in the Nairobi Stock Exchange Central Depository System (CDS) for purposes of participating in the Safaricom IPO in April 2008. The CDS campaign reached 500 students and faculty.
2007
Secondary School Investment Club Project (SSIC)
In February, CSS designed and implemented a Secondary School Investment Club Project (SSIC) through 5 secondary schools in Kampala. The SSIC successfully trained over 750 students and enrolled 250 active participants over a 10 week period.
Bukedde Newspaper Articles
In cooperation with the Editors of Bukedde, CSS published several Luganda-language articles for first time capital markets investors. Topics included the Uganda Securities Exchange, the Stanbic IPO in January '07, and how to find more market information.
To foster greater market participation, CSS launched a Stock Market Seminar Series for the general public from July - November 2006. The series included 4 events at the National Theatre and culminated in 2 presentations at Makerere University Business School and 1 at Nkumba University. An estimated 500 people attended the 7 seminars.
